Coaches & Program Approach

OC Wave was founded by directors Corey Hill, a Stanford football alum, and Chad Hogancamp, whose coaching background includes more than a decade in travel softball. They have built a program with named coaching leadership at each level, giving players a consistent foundation as they develop and compete. Sydney Hogancamp, an OC Wave alum and the first person to both play and coach at the USA Select Bowl, leads 12U Black and co-coaches 14U Black. At 14U Black, she works with Chad DeSilva, a former Saddleback College linebacker. At 12U Black, assistant coach and offensive coordinator John Moses brings extensive youth tackle and flag experience, with an emphasis on mechanics, spatial awareness and situational decision-making. Damian “DA” Alloway coaches 12U Blue, combining his playing experience at UCLA and Florida Atlantic with his work developing young athletes through YT Elite Athletics. This structure gives each group clear coaching leadership and its own development emphasis—from detailed offensive teaching at 12U Black to competitive experience and mentorship at 14U Black—while staying connected to the same OC Wave standard.

Program history: Founded in 2023, OC Wave is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit led by volunteer coaches. Its LA Rams relationship has included girls flag football clinics, Rams x Wave uniform activations, special team experiences and training-camp opportunities.

How to Use This Team Listing

This listing shows information that has been verified for OC Wave Flag Football Club. Details are confirmed at the time of verification, but rosters, fees, coaches, and schedules change between seasons. Before committing your player to any program, confirm the following directly with the team:

What to Verify Before Signing Up

  • Roster openings — Confirm whether the team is accepting new players this season. Competitive programs often fill through tryouts months in advance. Ask whether there is a waitlist or open evaluation.
  • Age groups and eligibility — Verify the exact age cutoffs — typically based on a player's birth year as of a specific cutoff date — and which division the team competes in.
  • Practice location and schedule — Ask where weekly practices are held and how often. Driving time to practices is usually the biggest ongoing commitment parents underestimate.
  • Tournament schedule and travel requirements — Club and travel programs compete at regional and sometimes out-of-state events. Request a sample tournament calendar to understand the commitment involved.
  • Fees and additional costs — Registration fees, uniform packages, tournament entry fees, and optional clinics can add up. Ask for a clear breakdown of the full-season cost before committing.
  • Coach contact and program philosophy — For competitive programs, ask about the coaching staff's experience, player development approach, and how they handle playing time.
