What College Flag Football Is Becoming
Women's flag football is a varsity sport at the college level — not a club or intramural activity. The NAIA was the first national body to sponsor a women's flag football championship, and dozens of NAIA programs are now competing for rosters, awarding athletic scholarships, and actively recruiting players from states like California where the high school pipeline is already established.
NCAA women's flag football is in the Emerging Sports for Women pathway, which means individual schools can sponsor programs and award scholarships in anticipation of full championship sponsorship. Programs at both Division I and Division II institutions are expanding.

Recruiting showcases are the most direct path for SoCal players to get in front of college coaching staffs. These events bring NAIA programs and emerging NCAA programs to Southern California specifically to identify talent — attending at least one quality showcase in your junior year (or earlier) significantly increases your recruiting exposure.

NAIA & NCAA: Where Things Stand
NAIA: The NAIA is the most established avenue for college women's flag football scholarships.
