RISE Riverside’s Winter 2027 season is a compact option for Inland Empire players who want games between the holiday break and spring sports. The useful decision is more than whether Sunday afternoons are open: parents and players should compare the grade brackets, how teams and practices are organized, and the full registration cost.

Which division fits a player?
Coed teams are organized by current school grade: Pre-K/K, then 1–2, 3–4, 5–6 and 7–8. The girls-only brackets cross those boundaries at grades 3–5 and 6–8. A fifth-grade girl, for example, could be with fifth- and sixth-graders in coed play or with third- through fifth-graders in the girls-only division. That difference in teammates and opponents is more useful to consider than the broad “K–8” label on the announcement. RISE also publishes separate girls-only rules.
Can a player join without a full team?
Yes. RISE says it forms rosters using friend or coach requests and places individual registrants on teams; there are no tryouts or draft. A player can register without first assembling a squad, while a group hoping to stay together should enter its requests during registration. Coaches are volunteers, generally parents or community mentors, and must complete a RISE background check. This is not a league that assigns a paid coach to every roster.
How much time does the season take?
RISE describes six to eight games, including playoffs and consolation, for most divisions; the kindergarten division has five games. Games use a 6v6 format on a 25-by-50-yard field. The league schedules game days, but coaches and parents—not the league—set team practice plans. That means the published Sunday calendar does not by itself define every team’s weekly commitment. Exact game times are to be posted before Week 1, and the organizer says weather can change the schedule.
What changes after December 4?
The Instagram announcement calls December 4 the registration close. The live winter-season page instead identifies December 4 as the regular-price cutoff, and the linked registration portal lists a late window through December 11, 2026. For Pre-K/K, the posted base fee rises from $125 to $175; for grades 1–8, it rises from $200 to $250. Add the posted $25 RISE fee and checkout transaction charges in either window. RISE lists a $20 discount for each sibling registered after the first.
Players registering late may not receive their reversible jersey until Week 2 or 3. The league’s refund paragraph also calls December 5 the registration close, even though its fee table lists a later sign-up window; do not assume that late registration is refundable. The organizer’s live checkout and written terms should control before payment.
