Flag In The Sand brings 5v5 flag football onto Oceanside Harbor Beach on Saturday, November 7, 2026. For a youth club or adult group weighing a team entry, the useful questions are more specific than whether the beach sounds fun: will your roster fit the eventual bracket, how does sand change preparation, and how much of the day should you reserve?

Which teams are a good fit?
The youth divisions use a player’s current school grade, not a familiar 10U or 12U label. That makes the organizer’s division guide an important roster check before a coach enters. Playing up is allowed; playing down is not. The organizer can combine neighboring grades or groupings if registration numbers call for it, so a separate boys, girls or coed bracket at every grade is not guaranteed.
Adult teams have men’s, women’s and coed 18+ options. The event welcomes all skill levels, but it is a team-entry tournament rather than an individual clinic. The first Flag In The Sand edition comes from organizers with Soccer in the Sand experience; there is no prior flag-football field or results list to use as a measure of competitive strength.
What changes when 5v5 moves to sand?
Each team gets at least three games, and qualifying teams continue into a single-elimination bracket. Games are two 16-minute running-clock halves with a two-minute halftime, placed in 45-minute schedule slots. That is a compact window: a coach should have substitutions and assignments ready rather than assume there will be long breaks to reset between plays.
Five players meet the roster minimum, but the organizer recommends eight to ten. That recommendation matters on sand, where a short-handed team has fewer substitution options across its guaranteed games. The event-specific rules require a mouthpiece and bare feet or approved sand socks; cleats are not allowed. Teams bring matching jerseys and legal flag belts, while the organizer supplies game balls. Do not assume ordinary turf-tournament equipment rules apply.
Planning the Oceanside day
The City lists the Harbor Beach facility at 1540 N Harbor Dr, Oceanside, CA 92054. That is a navigation address, not a published tournament field or check-in point. The organizer has not yet posted team-specific game times or a check-in location. A coach planning travel should treat this as a beach-day commitment until the schedule is released.
The harbor has free and paid parking options, with posted lot rules controlling on the day. Restrooms and showers are available at the beach. Spectator admission is free, according to the organizer’s announcement, which makes it easier for parents and players to bring supporters without a separate gate fee. The City’s harbor information is the better source for current parking details.
What does a team entry cost?
The published base fee is $430 per team plus processing. If eight to ten players split only that base fee evenly, that is about $43–$54 per player before processing or any discount—SoCal Flag’s calculation, not an organizer per-player price. The registration form displayed a $20 processing charge when checked October 14; the final checkout total controls. The organizer’s Instagram post also lists code NCCFNL without stating its value or end date.
